The CQE-WH-01103 Whole House Filter has an 80,000 gallon capacity. Descriptions of Cartridges:
** First Filter Cartridge is a 10" sediment filter cartridge that removes sediment, silt, sand and dirt. This cartridge also extends life of other, more expensive cartridges and prevents damage
• Second Filter Cartridge is a multi-stage filter that consists of one micron filter pad, KDF55, KDF85, Ceramic Balls, Granular Activated Carbon (GAC), and another 1-micron pad. This filter will remove hundreds of contaminants from water
• Third Cartridge is a 10"x5" solid carbon cartridge for removing volatile organic compounds (VOCs), insecticides, pesticides and industrial solvents

How this Filter does its job:
This Whole House 8 Stage Water Filter has 3 cartridges for your water to flow through. There is a sediment cartridge, a 6 stage cartridge and a solid carbon cartridge.
These cartridges will filter water for 80,000 gallons depending how bad your water is, replacement cartridges are very easy to change when it is time to replace them.

Unlike some other whole house water filters that only have carbon and KDF or just carbon this Crystal Quest whole house water filter has coconut shell carbon, KDF 55, KDF 85 and an ion exchange resin, it also has two 1 micron filter pads. So you can be assured you and your loved ones are protected from contaminants.

The first stage water flows through 20" sediment cartridge to remove sediment like sand, dirt, silt it also extends the life of your water filters

Stages 2 and 7 water flows through a one micron filter pad to filter out suspended particles. Like silt, sediment, sand, dirt, and other un-dissolved matter.

In stage 3 water flows through coconut shell carbon to remove organic contaminants like chlorine, pesticides, herbicides, (VOC's,) PCB's, MTBE's, insecticides and hundreds more of chemical contaminants from your water. Read more on coconut shell carbon

Then stage 4 water flows through an ion exchange resin to remove or reduce heavy metals like lead, copper, aluminum and water hardness. Read more about ion exchange resin

Then in stages 5 and 6, water flows through a KDF 55 and KDF 85 media to oxidize iron and hydrogen sulfide into an insoluble matter, result is it then attaches to the media. In stage 8, water flows through a 20" solid carbon cartridge to remove insecticides, pesticides, industrial solvents and other contaminants.
